The Tapajos Sustainable Mining Cooperative, COOPMIN, an initiative made by AN MINERALS, is a Brazilian mining cooperative based in Itaituba, state of Pará, in central-northern Brazil. Our cooperative brings together a diverse group of mining professionals, local communities and industry stakeholders, united by a shared vision of responsible and sustainable mining practices and a commitment to transforming the artisanal mining industry in the Tapajos mineral province in northern Brazil.
Our main objective is to promote responsible and sustainable mining practices in the region. We understand the importance of balancing economic development with environmental protection and social responsibility. Through the cooperative efforts of our members, we seek to minimize the negative impacts of artisanal mining activities while maximizing the positive contributions to the local economy, local communities, and of course, the environment.
Our mission can be summarized in the following 3 verticals;
Environmental Restoration and Sustainable Mining
Promoting ESG and Assisting Artisanal Miners in their Practices
Ethical Sourcing of Gold in Line with World Gold Council Metrics
In addition to promoting responsible mining, we are dedicated to empowering local communities. We recognize the importance of their participation and involvement in decision-making processes that affect their lives and livelihoods. Through capacity building initiatives, training programs and community development projects, we seek to improve the well-being of people living in the Tapajós region.
At COOPMIN, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to maintaining ecological balance, preserving biodiversity and protecting the natural resources of the Tapajos region. By adhering to rigorous environmental standards and implementing innovative technologies, we seek to minimize our ecological footprint and ensure the long-term viability of the region.
